Dental hygiene is imperative to ensure a healthy and good looking smile. Despite good home care, areas of plaque, tartar and staining will build up, and these require professional cleaning. At Marton Dental Practice our experienced Dental therapist Rachel is skilled in making sure these deposits are removed, giving you the best chance to maintain your oral health and prevent problems, along with creating a brighter whiter smile.
Regular visits to your therapist puts you in the best position for detecting any oral diseases before they cause symptoms and problems, and to prevent decay and gum disease in the areas that are impossible to keep clean yourself.
Therapists are trained to thoroughly clean your teeth and gums and around restorations. No matter how good your home cleaning there will always be areas that cannot be accessed, and a therapist can get to those hard-to-reach places to provide a professional deep clean. The treatment is far more than a superficial clean, a scale and polish will remove harmful plaque and deposits of tartar that, if left, can cause periodontal (gum) disease. By making a therapist visit part of your dental care regime you can avoid becoming one of the 19 out of every 20 people who will suffer from gum disease during their life, and reduce the risks of developing dental decay.
Occasionally, over time, more stubborn stains can build up on the surface of teeth, and affect your smile and confidence. Thankfully at Marton Dental practice we have a solution for this too.
Our therapist can provide you with a deep clean and polish, along with our air polishing system. The Air polish procedure really will blast away all the stains without damaging your teeth or gums. A combination of water and powder is used to gently remove the stains, and reach the areas that no toothbrush can. This can be done before whitening to get the best result possible, or just as a one off procedure when you feel the stains have built up.
Our therapist Rachel is also qualified to provide you with other treatments such as sealants and small fillings to try to prevent future problems.
